A stroke of sorting genius
22 November 2024
Q&A with Distrisort Director of Marketing Kasper Stoffels.

Q What is your company’s USP?
A DistriSort is a trusted partner when it comes to providing turnkey sorting solutions on a small footprint for high volume, high speed single item sorting.
Q Tell us about your recent innovations?
A A stroke of genius: stop an item halfway while sliding in a chute and so create an extra exit. The “Exit Pitch Reducer” can almost double the amount of exits on the same footprint. Or reduce the size of a sorter and still give you the benefits of a larger version. Then there is our new -Synchronized Tilting Table-.The ultimate induction support, helping robotic infeed become faster and more efficient. Both these innovations have a huge impact improving the sorting process.
Q What challenges do your customers face and how are helping them respond?
A The biggest challenge still is the shortage in the labour market. Our automated sorting solutions provide an almost instant noticeable ROI and enable clients to do more with the same of even less people (batch picking).
On the practical side, there is the increasing number of goods that are just wrapped in plastic and sticky tape, or in fl imsy packaging materials. Specially in e-com and parcel & post this can lead to downtime and extra hand sorting due to items getting stuck or flying off. Our solutions are developed to handle at least both these issues.
Q What industry sectors do you target?
A Our focus is on: fashion/apparel, e-commerce, parcel & post, pharma, books/printed matter, 3pl, shoes. Our experience ranges from scale ups, through to helping the biggest names in the business to improve their logistics flows and warehousing.
Q What you are doing to meet sustainability objectives?
A DistriSort has a TIM rating. Sustainability and durability are the key drivers in the development of new products. Our offices and production facilities are self- supporting when it comes to heating, cooling and power demand, thanks to over 700 solar panels. Our office and production waste is for the larger part fully recyclable. Our transportation is switching to EV where possible. And last but not least, the EuroSort sorters we install have a low energy consumption, thanks to the use of lightweight materials (aluminum) and a minimum use of pneumatics for moving parts.
Q What trends have you seen in your sector this year?
A Again (or still) robotics. Whether our customers want it today, or if they just want to be ready for a future with robotics, our sorting solutions are already designed with this in mind (see: Innovations).
Q What does your company have planned for 2024?
A We are looking at what AI can bring us, and there is a lot more to explore to make sure we come up with the right answers. Customer satisfaction is the driving force in the industry, so that is where we want our clients to excel. On the existing technology side, of course we keep improving looking at our clients’ needs and wishes.
Q How important is technology in modern warehousing and logistics?
A It is all about the right product(s) at the right time, at the right place. Technology is the driving force behind this. Our sorting solutions will help you achieve just that even better.
