HOUNSLOW COUNCIL is preparing to release 108-acres of greenbelt land for development though its new Local Plan.
A single 59-acre site known as Hatton Fields in Bedfont has been set aside for the development of a 683,000 ft2 industrial and logistics scheme combining modern warehousing with high quality infrastructure. Development would take place to the north of the site with the remaining area landscaped to provide “a high-quality place that helps workers to make active lifestyle choices, including providing walking and cycling routes to surrounding areas and employee facilities to encourage social interaction amongst employees on site;
In addition, any developer would have to protect and enhance the landscape character, environmental quality and the biodiversity value of the adjacent Site of Importance for Nature Conservation and support the delivery of landscaping, a green buffer and tree planted margins along the boundaries with neighbouring open space.
The Hatton Fields site is just 2.5 miles form Heathrow Airport
The original plan was written in 2015 and has been scaled down over the years however, local campaigners are now fighting to exclude Hatton Fields from the release.
The site is 2.5 miles from Heathrow Airport and could provide much needed industrial space for airport related businesses.
