DHL breaks ground on Coventry hub

29 September 2022

The £230m SEGRO Park Coventry facility will double DHL’s handling capacity and is expected to create over 600 new jobs for the area.

Construction of the new 25,000 sq m hub, located south of Coventry airport within Warwick District, is expected to be completed in summer 2024. It will have the capacity to handle well over 500,000 items per day and will feature secure bonded storage and customs capabilities to support international eCommerce.

The hub features state of the art mechanisation to enable high speed and high-quality parcel handling and has been designed to high environmental standards, through features such as 7,000 sq m of solar panels, EV charging stations for cars and LGVs, LED lighting and landscaping to protect the natural biodiversity of the area.

DHL Parcel UK CEO Peter Fuller, says: “ Our existing hub and head office are in neighbouring Ryton-on-Dunsmore so we’re proud to continue investing in the area, creating new jobs and a blueprint for sustainable development.”

Andrew Pilsworth, managing director, national logistics, SEGRO, adds: “With planning consent for 3.7m sq ft of employment space and the infrastructure works nearly complete, we are looking forward to creating another modern, industrial and logistics development at SEGRO Park Coventry, and we are pleased to share with DHL Parcel as the first occupier.”

The investment in DHL’s new Coventry hub is part of a £482m investment to facilitate business growth in the UK.
