Hit the north
Due to massive demand to both attend and exhibit, the Tomorrow’s Warehouse Event has added a new date to the calendar. On 2 October Tomorrow’s Warehouse will host an event at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. Please add the date to your diaries, we hope to see you there.
The exhibitors are there to help you in partnership, and focus on a variety of areas of expertise from automation and robotics to MHE; from doors to temporary buildings; from safety solutions to flooring, IT, packaging and more.
Each of our exhibitors is determined to take your processes and make them more efficient and seamless in partnership with you and your teams. On top of all this, you will earn CPD points by attending the event, working handily towards your annual total. Attending the event means you get six hours of CPD accredited educational content.
Looking at the content in a bit more detail, we will tackle four key topics in our sessions. Each session features presentations and ends with a discussion panel.
Boost engagement
Our first seminar session focuses on strategies for boosting engagement with warehouse operatives. We are delighted to welcome Martin Brower logistics director Sarah Booth who will speak present on what can be learned from going back to the floor. This year Martin Brower’s senior leadership team carried out a back-to-the-floor exercise, working shifts in demanding warehouse roles in a bid to better understand and empathise with the challenges faced by colleagues. Logistics director Sarah Booth shares her experiences and learnings on how the exercise has helped inform strategy on key industry topics such as working conditions, efficiency, and staff retention.
In addition, Kirsten Tisdale, spokesperson for Women In Logistics will explore how automation is changing the gender mix and pay gap in logistics. Fascinating stuff! We’ll also have Mirela Ongari Veizi, logistics manager and NDC inclusion champion at Co-op Food on how management can better boost engagement on the warehouse floor.
Automation
Our second session examines how to get the most out of your warehouse automation. First, we’ll have Adrian Ancliff, head of operations at Bilstein Group UK. Bilstein Group is a leading automotive aftermarket player and invested in a highly automated warehouse in Markham Vale in 2018. Adrian tells us how the firm is trying to optimise the automated warehouse, while also looking to new technology to take the facility to the next level with a new expansion.
The automation session will also feature headline sponsor Element Logic UK. Its sales director Gavin Harrison will speak on ‘humans v machines - the eight myths of warehouse automation’. This will tackle the industry’s preconceptions of automated warehousing and how to make the most of your operation.

Toolstation’s finance, property & distribution director Lakhvir Sanghera will talk us through the recent opening of its highly automated new warehouse. The Pineham facility has been built to enhance Toolstation’s service offer, delivering accuracy and efficiency through automation with capacity for future growth. Lakhvir talks us through the rationale for this innovative site, which points the way to the warehouse of tomorrow.
Future
Our third session focuses firmly on the warehouse of the future. First up, John Gallemore, chief operating officer, THG, and Tom Killeen, chief operating officer, THG Brands share their thoughts on the future of fulfillment. Don’t miss this great opportunity for an inside view on the fast-changing world of fulfilment and how the warehouse must adapt to meet these challenges. THG is a global digital brand builder operating ecommerce brands including Myprotein and Lookfantastic supported by their global operations infrastructure.

In this session, we also explore the power of collaboration, as Wincanton head of W2 Claire Charlton presents on the 3PL’s innovative programme for developing logistics start-ups. Openness and collaboration are essential in bringing Innovation to life. Claire Charlton shares her experiences as Head of Wincanton’s W2 programme, with a specific spotlight on W2 Labs - a warehousing and logistics-focused ‘Dragon’s Den’ for tech start-ups.

Property
Our final session of the day is focused on warehouse property and is hosted by our very own resident expert - Liza Helps, property editor of Logistics Matters.
Andrea Ferranti, head of industrial and logistics research, Colliers will give a state of the market review. In a year of great uncertainty, Andrea will shine a spotlight on market trends and challenges, as well as exploring the key opportunities for warehouse occupiers. Stuart McCallion, head of technical development UK, SEGRO will also expand on how new warehouse development is progressing hand in hand with ESG demands. Stuart will explore how occupiers can push the ESG envelope and how it may not be as expensive as you think.
Networking
As well as learning in a relaxed environment, the Tomorrow’s Warehouse Event represents a valuable opportunity to network with hundreds of your peers. At last year’s event, job titles represented included warehouse managers, logistics managers, operations directors and more; and we had people from companies such as Warburtons, Tesco, Ralawise and Nestle, to name but a few.
We know it has been a crazy and hectic time for warehousing over the last few years. The aim of the show is to shed some light on the trends that are continuing to impact your workplace, and how you might best adjust your operations to excel in the future.
After all, we may talk Tomorrow’s Warehouse at the event, but it will be you, and people like you, that carve the future out with your investments, hard work and strategic decision making.
