THE HEALTH & Safety Event showcases the latest products and services from the industry and is the UK meeting place for anyone responsible for running a safe and efficient workplace. The event is the fastest growing exhibition in its sector, attracting the UK’s largest audience of health and safety buyers actively looking for product information, solutions and best practice to improve workplace standards. It hosts over 250 exhibitors and showcases the latest products, solutions and expertise the industry has to offer.
The exhibition features a number of informative seminar theatres.
New for 2023, the Practical Safety Theatre is sponsored by MSA Safety and will showcase experts sharing information on how to create a safe and compliant working environment. Attendees can gain the practical tools and knowledge to protect them and their employees from danger, while helping to look after the future of their business or organisation.
A standout presentation is How AI has helped M&S to reduce incidents by 80% in less than 10 weeks from James Carter, Network H&S Manager - Marks & Spencer. This is on 27 Apr 2023 from 12:45-13:15 in the Practical Safety Theatre.
Following the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, M&S's largest Ecommerce DC at Castle Donington, witnessed a heavy increase in customer orders to two million single orders per week. This increase in demand meant more workers were required on-site. As a result, it was a requirement from senior management to ensure that the safety of their colleagues was of the utmost importance and that safety events and incidents were kept to a minimum.
James Carter explains: “Our colleagues are our most important asset and keeping them safe is the most important thing we do.” It was then a priority for the HSE team to investigate best-fit tools and technology in order to ensure they were equipped to easily identify areas of risk in their business and promote proactive decision-making that results in a safer workplace for their staff.
Main stage
The main stage at The Health & Safety Event will welcome key industry speakers who will be providing the latest news and updates as well as regulations, guidance, and training within the health and safety industry.
On days 1 & 2 IOSH will present its Conference programme, while on Day 3, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will set the agenda.
IOSH participation is as a result of a recent partnership agreement between IOSH and The Health & Safety Event. IOSH is the chartered body and largest membership organisation for health and safety professionals.
IOSH president Lawrence Webb, says: “The Health & Safety Event is a great opportunity for the OSH community to come together to share ideas and best practice. We are looking forward to bringing a varied and ambitious programme of educational content to the Keynote Theatre as well as engaging with our members and hearing from OSH professionals from across the UK and hopefully, further afield.”
Event director David Bishop, adds: “We are delighted and proud to be partnering with IOSH. Through collaboration with important industry partners, we are in an increasingly advantageous position to deliver more opportunities, leverage positive developments and strong growth in the sector. It is an extremely exciting opportunity for the OSH community.”
The Knowledge Exchange Theatre is sponsored by RS Components and will feature a series of sessions covering the challenges faced by health and safety professionals and practitioners. Hear from industry experts who are making a difference in the workplace and safety culture.
The Driver Safety Zone will showcase experts sharing a series of presentations and panel discussions covering legislation updates, driver fatigue, distraction, staff culture, vehicle safety and much more.
Following the pandemic, M&S's Castle Donington DC saw a huge increase in customer orders. Senior management was keen to ensure the safety of their colleagues was of the utmost importance.
In addition, Lone Worker Safety Live will be bringing its conference to The Health & Safety Event. In bite-size interactive sessions, experts, and those with practical experience will share their knowledge to bring you best practice ways to manage the key issues of wellbeing, safety, and security for lone and remote workers.
The Health & Safety Event recently acquired Lone Worker Safety Live. Previously, The Health & Safety Event formed a strategic partnership with Lone Worker Safety Live to host lone working content at its event. This new acquisition will see their annual conference of Lone Worker Safety Live take place at The Health & Safety Event at the NEC Birmingham moving forward.
Nicole Vazquez, director of Worthwhile Training, organiser of Lone Worker Safety Live explains: “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with The Health & Safety Event and bring our expertise and knowledge to the event. Joining forces with The Health & Safety Event will allow us to expand the reach of our conference and provide an even greater benefit to attendees. We look forward to working together to promote the importance of lone worker safety.”
