Green logistics to take centre stage
07 November 2024
In response to the logistics sector's growing focus on sustainability, IMHX 2025 is set to showcase an expanded Green Logistics Zone.
THIS MARKS an important evolution in the UK's premier materials handling exhibition. The event will run from 9-11 September 2025 at the Birmingham NEC, where it is once again expected to attract 10,000 attendees looking to explore over 300 exhibitors who specialise in supplying the warehouse logistics and materials handling sectors.
The Green Logistics Zone represents an exciting expansion of the successful Sustainability Zone introduced at the last IMHX in September 2022.
IMHX event director Chris Morley, says: “The warehouse logistics sector’s growth brings with it a responsibility to prioritise sustainability.
“Our Green Logistics Zone is designed to be a comprehensive resource for businesses of all sizes looking to reduce their environmental impact while maximising operational efficiency.”

This dedicated area will focus on three critical themes: Renewables and Solar PV, Warehouse Optimisation, and Eco Tech. The zone will feature a unique blend of physical and digital exhibits, showcasing cutting-edge solutions that are transforming the industry's approach to sustainability. A particular emphasis will be placed on the role of Artificial Intelligence in driving efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, demonstrating how data-driven approaches can revolutionise logistics operations.
The Green Logistics Zone will offer visitors practical insights into implementing sustainable practices via a dedicated speakers' corner, where industry experts will deliver brief presentations on sustainable technologies and practices, providing attendees with actionable strategies for their own operations.
The Zone will be delivered, once again, in partnership with SEC Group, an award-winning storage systems and commercial office fit-out specialist that combines data-driven design with 20 years’ industry experience. Highlights at the IMHX 2022 Sustainability Zone included a fully immersive 3D Virtual Reality warehouse tour which proved to be a huge draw with visitors keen to experience SEC Group’s SEC XR technology allowing them to walk through and interact with the warehouse around them.
SEC Storage managing director Harry Watts, comments: “Visitors will explore a world that brings sustainable logistics to life, showcasing innovations that drive efficiency and environmental responsibility, with practical insights for integrating these technologies into their own operations. Our goal is to equip businesses with actionable strategies for impactful change, providing tools to enhance performance and sustainability. By engaging directly with these solutions, visitors will gain a clear understanding of how to optimise resources while reducing emissions and lead their operations toward a greener future.”
The zone's comprehensive approach addresses the pressing need for knowledge sharing as well as practical solutions in an industry where environmental impact is becoming increasingly scrutinised.
This expansion of the Green Logistics Zone, one of the most visited feature areas at IMHX 2022, reflects IMHX's 24-year commitment to serving as the heart of the UK's warehouse logistics and materials handling sector. The free-to-attend event continues to evolve, offering valuable insights for professionals across the intralogistics, supply chain, e-commerce retail and manufacturing sectors.
The Green Logistics Zone illustrates how IMHX remains at the forefront of industry innovation, providing a platform where sustainability meets practical application. Visitors will have ample opportunity to explore these groundbreaking sustainable solutions and network with industry leaders who are championing the cause.
Floorspace at IMHX 2025 is now 70% sold. Those interested in taking stand space or enquiring about opportunities within the Green Logistics Zone should contact Joel Martin at joel.martin@informa.com.
