10 December 2024

Q&A with Aptean.

Q What is your company’s USP?

A Aptean offers purpose-built industry software to help businesses thrive. From ERP to WMS and TMS, Aptean are focused on helping over 10,000+ customers globally increase efficiency and productivity through applications which are sector specific, and AI driven.

Our commitment to innovation has led us to develop sophisticated TMS tools tailored to meet the needs of various industries. Supported by our global team of talented industry specialists, Aptean provides exceptional service, enabling organisations to concentrate on expanding their business with the assurance that our solutions can scale with them.

Our portfolio of established TMS solutions: Paragon Routing and Scheduling Software and 3T Multi Carrier Management Shipping Solutions, further strengthens our ability to offer unparalleled expertise and support to our customers.

Aptean TMS helps our customers streamline fi nal mile processes and maximise resource utilisation—all while delivering outstanding customer service. Whether organisations own a private fleet, rely on carrier connections, or both, we can support them in achieving the best transport services possible.

From planning and execution to tracking and analysis, Aptean Transport Solutions are designed to optimise every aspect of a transport operation. Our advanced TMS tools deliver effi ciency and cost savings through dynamic route optimisation, automated processes, and real-time tracking. This results in a leaner, more cost-effective logistics operation that’s fully under control, typically saving over 10% against transport budget.

Q Tell us about your recent innovations?

A At Aptean, we are constantly innovating with our solutions to ensure that we keep pace with our customers’ requirements in an increasingly changing market. Within our Paragon Routing & Scheduling Solution, a key element in our product roadmap is the delivery of our next generation route planning and optimisation solution. This is a full web-based version of our existing routing and scheduling application, with modern UI and UX design, delivered as a multi-tenant, multi-user solution taking advantage of modern database, microservice and scalable architectures. In addition, Paragon solution sets can seamlessly flow into execution, live management, customer communications and ePOD, providing a full suite from order scheduling through to fulfilment.

Our key theme of innovation across the TMS solution suite is based around AI. We’re committed to ensuring that AI is being integrated into our roadmap to ensure industry pain points are resolved. We’re addressing things such as Parameter Optimisation, Load Building and using an AI Assistant to improve automation within our software, reducing manual effort for customers.

Q What industry sectors do you target?

A Our comprehensive suite of transport management and delivery fulfilment systems allows us to be industry agnostic. We have a broad spectrum of customers across many different industries, including:

• Retail

• Manufacturing

• Wholesale

• Distribution

• Food and Beverage

• Pharmaceuticals

• Multi-Client 3PL

Q What trends have you seen in your sector this year?

• The impact of AI in Transportation: organisations looking to utilise AI technology to automate processes, harness predictive analytics for decision making.

• Sustainability pressures: incoming regulation is putting increasing pressure on businesses to reduce CO2 emissions and be more sustainable.

• Customer Experience is King: in an increasingly competitive landscape businesses are having to place more focus than ever before on ensuring customer expectations are not only met but exceeded.

• Supply Chain Resiliency: supply  chains are becoming more and more unpredictable, and as part of that, ensuring transport operations are adaptable to change is critical.

Q How important is technology in modern warehousing and logistics?

A Technology is critical for warehousing and logistics organisations today to remain competitive. Gone are the days of relying on outdated ways of working and manual processes. As the sector grapples with longstanding inefficiencies and new challenges, the integration of advanced technology offers a path forward. By bridging the gap between departments, enabling data-driven decision making, and facilitating collaboration, these systems have the potential to revolutionise not just transport planning but the entire operation – from warehousing right through to logistics.
