Reliable vehicle restraints
22 November 2024
Q&A with Gaetan 'Jay' Jette, CEO and Founder at GMR Safety.
Q What is your company’s USP?
A Power Chock® vehicle restraints are very simple to use, yet reliable safety systems designed to safeguard the lives of loading bay workers worldwide. Every system comes with an exclusive 5-year warranty, performs well in winter conditions, is compatible with all types of transshipment vehicles, and offers the industry’s lowest TCO with minimal maintenance requirements.
Q Tell us about your recent innovations?
A We have recently launched an automated wheel-based vehicle restraint, built on the same patented concept as the other models in the range: a high-tensile steel chock and a restraining plate. However, this new system is activated by the warehouse operator and features an automatic mechanism that sets the chock directly in front of a rear wheel by securely locking the lorry in place, without requiring driver involvement. Adaptable for all types of vehicles, the Power Chock Auto offers all the same advantages and warranty as the manual restraints.
Q What challenges do your customers face and how are helping them respond?
A Loading bays are among the most hazardous areas in warehouses, accounting for 25% of all industrial accidents. Our mission is to assist our partners in addressing these safety challenges by providing vehicle restraints that secure vehicles at the bay and preventing early lorry departures and avoiding forklift and personnel falls from the edge. Also, to make sure that we provide tailored solutions that best address their specifi c safety needs, it is crucial for us to adopt a collaborative approach that is mutually beneficial and profitable for everyone involved.
Q What industry sectors do you target?
A We have collaborated with several major corporations across a wide range of industry sectors, including third-party logistics, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, automotive and transport, and building and construction. That being said, we are continually seeking to expand our partnership and explore new industry sectors.
