Pallet and container pooling specialist, CHEP has announced an extension to its contract with Premier Foods, the UK's largest food producer. CHEP blue pallets will be carrying a range of Premier Foods' brands including Hovis, Branston, Mr Kipling and Sharwoods to retailers across the UK.

As part of the partnership, CHEP undertook an extensive supply chain mapping exercise to identify areas within the existing contract, plus a number of new opportunities, that could generate cost savings and minimise environmental impact.

These included enabling Premier Foods to use the 'empty legs' of truck transport from another customer, ensuring optimised transport.

The managed recovery service CHEP currently provides, which is an enhancement to the traditional "exchange" process that ensures the constant cycle of trade quality pallets, was also reviewed.
