Germany company Weforma Dämpfungstechnik offers a comprehensive range of powerful hydraulic heavy-duty dampers - for many sizes and speeds, series or bespoke designs.

One application is in high rack systems at the ends of gangways, as mechanical safety elements. They are designed to absorb the complete impact load of the stacker crane with loaded carriages.

"Without heavy-duty dampers, the temporary storage of many products, from ready-toeat pizza to furniture, is inconceivable," says MD, Armin Schmidt.

"Our heavy-duty dampers function for continuous operation and also for emergency stopping if the speed is too high." Stacker cranes of up to 40,000kg can be effectively decelerated, for crane systems or bridges it can be several million kilograms. The hydraulic heavy-duty dampers from Weforma efficiently convert the resulting energy into heat and dampen the complete system in a highly controlled way, simultaneously minimising the opposing forces.

Depending on the length of stroke, the service life of the heavyduty absorbers is said to be up to one million strokes. This is ensured by hardened and hardchrome plated piston rods. Furthermore, the galvanised surface of the housing is highly reistant to corrosion.
