Air film movers help Siemens

Siemens Energy has extended its manufacturing plant by opening a new service building at their transformer manufacturing plant in Nuremberg, Germany. Two Air Film Movers manufactured by Solving, Finland, have been installed to transport large transformers in this significant building.

Fitted with electric drive units and latest generation controls the two Solving Air Film Movers provide significant advantages compared with previous models; for example the new Movers can be driven when empty without being connected to the air supply network, which in turn means lower air consumption, lower noise levels and greater accuracy when positioning.

The handling system consists of two Air Film Movers that can be operated either as single units for moving 350-tonne transformers or combined for 700-tonne transformers.

When combined, the Air Film Movers can be connected end-to-end or side-by-side. They have all necessary safety devices and communication to be controlled by one operator using one remote control unit.
