Briggs offers full warehouse solution

Forklift distributor Briggs Equipment has developed a turnkey warehouse offering, using partners to provide a complete warehouse solution. Briggs Equipment signed a deal to distribute Yale forklifts to the UK market in 2010 and chief executive Richard Close said “since we have had Yale, we have been able to really move into the warehouse”.

Warehouse and VNA product manager UK Mark Murfet explained further: “Most manufacturers say they are in partnership but often these relationships are skin deep. Our offering is more comprehensive. We can supply a full warehouse solution including adjustable pallet racking, longspan shelving, live storage, flooring and lighting, as well as warehouse modelling.”

Briggs will use Yale's Warehouse Simulator to help customers create models shedding light on warehouse utilisation, lorry scheduling etc. The software breaks down complex warehouse operations to the finest level of detail. It takes into account factors such as energy consumption, goods flow and order picking and replenishment regimes.

The free simulation tool forms a part of a new customer experience area, known as the Phoenix suite, at the Briggs' head office in Cannock.

“The Phoenix Suite helps us advise on the right solutions. By being involved in the warehouse design process, we can help clients to save hundreds of thousands of pounds by helping their operation achieve more with less space and a smaller materials handling fleet,” added Murfet.
