How many infringements can you spot?

Perhaps we must admire the ingenuity of the worker grinding this warehouse floor, but he is putting himself at risk.

What is he doing wrong and what should he be doing?

Thanks to the eagle-eyed Chris Adams, MD of Marigen for spotting this health and safety clanger. If you see any similar images, let us know.

‘You know, I’d be able to see what I was doing if I didn’t have this bin on my head’
The cynic (and Clarksonism) in me says ‘this would be a lot safer if I was wearing a hi-vis’.
In all seriousness there comes a tipping point between health and safety practice and simple common sense!

(1) The operator is using the angle grinder right handed and therefore the wheel is rotating upwards, this could result in base material plus any stray pieces of abrasive wheel being propelled upwards towards his face – he should have the machine facing in the opposite direction and the wheel would therefore be cutting in a downwards direction.

(2) However, since the machine is being used indoors the operator should be using a water feed fitted to a standard petrol powered 300mm diameter disc cutter.
