New PCR control system

Menzies Aviation, which uses the Joloda Hydraroll powered cargo roller (PCR) system for moving ULDs at Heathrow Airport Aircargo Centre, has had five rigid 8.1m long vehicles delivered for airside distribution tasks.

The PCR systems in the new vehicles have new rubber blocks installed, which remain lifted whilst rollers are dropped to aid braking, rather than straining the PCRs. They also have a new programmable electric speed control system to monitor PCR use, forward and reverse buttons and push activate lift buttons.

The system provides quick efficient loading airside and reduced maintenance time. The new developments also mean easier and safer driver controls whilst reducing PCR usage, extending the life of the rollers.
