UniCarriers gains IFOY award nomination

UniCarriers has been nominated for the International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award 2015 with the newly developed TERGO URS.

The forklift with swivel reach fork unit is entering the race in the warehouse trucks category. The special feature of the forklift is its high level of flexibility in working use: the TERGO URS can be used both as a rail/induction-guided narrow-aisle truck and as a flexible reach truck, thus combining two truck types in one unit.

The URS from Atlet by UniCarriers is part of the company’s ergonomic TERGO range. Its special construction makes it a hybrid of Very-Narrow-Aisle (VNA) and free-range reach truck. An additional forklift for material feeding therefore becomes unnecessary. Overall, companies benefit from a reduction of up to 30 percent in total cost of operation. The TERGO URS has a maximum lift height of 10.35 metres and can transport loads up to 1.5 tonnes. At the same time, it reaches a top speed of 14.0 km/h.

The truck will demonstrate its ability in February in the IFOY Test and the IFOY Innovation Check. The jury will make its decision in March on the basis of the key figures in various categories such as innovation value, technology, cost effectiveness and ergonomics. The winners will be announced on 5th May at the official award presentation at the BMW museum in Munich.

The IFOY Award was born in 2013. The “forklift Oscar” is awarded annually by an international specialist jury for the best industrial trucks and intralogistics solutions in five categories. This year, products and solutions are admitted, which have been launched on the European market since December 2013 and which constitute new developments, development advancements or special models with significant technical modifications.
