Beam smoke detectors

Illumino Ignis has selected FFE’s Fireray 5000 infra-red beam smoke detectors to protect its Peterborough warehouse. The company, a leading supplier of fire, safety and disability products, selected Fireray beam detectors over more conventional fixed-point detectors.

Infra-red beam smoke detectors provide wide area detection and are used when it is impractical, inappropriate or not cost effective to use traditional point-type detectors. They are ideally suited to large interiors with high ceilings, such as warehouses, as they enable coverage of a large area at minimal cost.

“Installing FFE’s beam detectors instead of point detectors was the right decision for our warehouse,” comments Illumino Ignis’ sales technical manager, Jason Hill. “We saved a lot of time and money with the installation as we did not need to hire access equipment or install long cable runs. The Fireray really is ideal for a large warehouse like ours as the beams easily cover the entire length of the building’s interior.”
