Worker missing after racking collapse in warehouse
Fire crews have launched a search operation to find a worker trapped under tons of goods and collapsed racking at a Shropshire warehouse of Edwards Transport.
Fire crews and paramedics were called to Edwards Transport in Hinstock, near Market Drayton, Shropshire, at 9.41am (Friday, May 6) after shelves loaded with goods toppled over.
A male employee is said to have become trapped under huge packs of cheese which fell from the toppling shelves while on his forklift truck.
A Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service statement said: "One high bay warehouse, approximately 60m x 20m, suffered internal and external collapse, with one person unaccounted for.
"Search of the building is being carried out by fire service personnel using equipment including a snake eye camera. National Urban Search and Rescue teams including dogs are assisting with the search."
As the worker was in the forklift at the time of the collapse, it is hoped the chassis of the vehicle protected him.
