Women’s achievements set to be celebrated at logistics awards
The search is on for women making a difference in the logistics industry, with an annual awards ceremony set to recognise the cream of the crop.
Women in Logistics, a UK-wide trade organisation, will celebrate individuals in three categories: leader of the year, diversity champion (also open to men) and young woman of the year. There's also a fourth award to recognise the organisation doing the most to advance the cause of women in the industry.
Individuals can nominate themselves, or peers can nominate deserving winners on their behalf. It's free to enter, and submissions must be received by 13th April 2017.
Richard Wilding, Professor of Supply Chain Strategy at Cranfield School of Management, will lead the panel of judges. Winners will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony on June 15 at The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Milton Keynes.
Following the annual awards ceremony, there is a celebratory ball, where industry professionals can network in relaxed atmosphere, celebrate the year's successes and have fun while raising money for charity.
The annual awards and charity ball are organised by Women in Logistics, which was established in 2008 to increase the number of women in the industry, improve life for those women already working in logistics and to address the gender imbalance issue.
Melanie Longman, vice chair of Women in Logistics, said: "It's been another excellent year for our group and for women working within the logistics industry.
"Our annual awards ceremony is our opportunity to shine a light on the fantastic work being done, and to honour the stand-out individuals making the biggest impact. The charity ball allows us all to come together to celebrate our achievements of the last 12 months and I very much look forward to it!"
The awards and charity ball will operate in support of Transaid, for which Women in Logistics has raised £40k since 2012. Transaid is an international development organisation that transforms lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
