Howard Tenens wins Gold RoSPA Award

Howard Tenens have been awarded with a Gold RoSPA award by the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents for the third year running.

RoSPA, the UK’s leading safety organisation, has awarded Howard Tenens with a Gold RoSPA award, internationally recognised as the most sought-after accolade within the Health and Safety industry. The award was achieved as a result of the progress Howard Tenens has made in respect to improving Health and Safety across the Group.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”
To achieve the award Howard Tenens had to answer a range of questions, supported with detailed evidence of procedures and practices in place across the Group which includes 20 different locations and 200+ vehicles covering the UK.

Chris Coulson, national health and safety manager at Tenens has been working towards attaining the Gold RoSPA standard since joining the company in 2014. Chris has introduced and implemented a number of initiatives across all depots and continues to do so.

Following the news of the award retention Chris said: “Another great result for Tenens for the third year running. Lots of hard work, dedication and commitment by our depot Health and Safety Co-Ordinators, helping to reduce risk and improve the overall safety and health of our staff. It’s great to see our continued hard work paying off year on year, keeping our staff safe at work whilst continuing to deliver, a first-class service to our customers.”
RoSPA promotes safety and the prevention of accidents at work, at leisure, on the road, in the home and through safety education.

Karl Hodgkinson, managing director at Howard Tenens concluded: “Working towards and subsequently achieving the RoSPA Gold Standard again has continued to drive a change in culture across the business and improved our employee’s perception towards Health and Safety. We are delighted by our employee’s willingness to be involved in the process and that our commitment to both our teams and members of the public’s safety is being recognised.”

Howard Tenens will be formally accepting the award at the awards ceremony in Birmingham on the 6th June.
