Planning Inspectorate to decide on 2.5 million ft2 logistics scheme
Newlands Developments has asked the Planning Inspectorate to step in after North Northamptonshire Council failed to meet a planning decision deadline for a 2.5 million ft2 logistics scheme in Thrapston, East Midlands.

PLANS FOR the scheme were submitted by Newlands in 2022 and the council had until December 2024 to decide on the application but took no action so the application has been taken to appeal and the Government will now assess the scheme.
The scheme on a 148 acre green field site envisioned a number of warehouses totalling some 2.5 million ft2 with eaves heights of some 24m close to Junction 13 of the A14 supporting around 2,700 new jobs. At the time of the application submission the developer had a pre-let for a major 3PL lined up for a 592,000 ft2 facility on Plot 1. The remaining space was to be marketed as build to suit in units from 100,000 – 1,000,000 ft2.
The scheme has proven controversial with more than 760 objections.
