THE RESEARCH show that take up for warehouses of over 100,000 ft2 has reached 20.45 million ft2 up 3% on the same period last year and 9% on the pre-Covid 10-year average.
There is also a further 10.4m ft2 under offer.
Despite this there is a further increase in space available with the DTRE vacancy rate creeping up to 7.5% from 7.4% at the half year, This is almost entirely due to large second-hand units coming to the market. In July Sainsbury’s put its 673,000 ft2 distribution centre in Rugby on the market as a sub-let as reported in Logistics Matters.
