The right hand of operations

Westcoast, one of Europe’s leading technology distributors, has extended its partnership with Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, securing a new fleet for its Milton Keynes distribution centre.

THIS MARKS the fourth Westcoast site to choose Mitsubishi equipment, underlining the strong and rapidly developing relationship between the two businesses.

The Milton Keynes fleet, scheduled for delivery in Q3 2026, includes a range of specialist trucks tailored specifically to Westcoast’s operational demands. It is the latest milestone in a partnership built over the past two and a half years – one defined by trust, consistency, and genuine collaboration.

What began as a simple enquiry has evolved into a hands-on, dependable relationship. Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, led day-to-day by territory sales manager Jay Bamrah, has maintained a weekly presence across Westcoast sites for more than two years. This continuous involvement has helped ensure smooth fleet transitions, proactive communication, and fast-response support whenever needed.

“This isn’t just about supplying trucks,” says Jay. “We’ve worked hard to earn Westcoast’s trust. They know we’ll be there every week, that we’ll pick up the phone, and that whatever challenge arises – we’ll deal with it quickly. It’s a genuine two-way partnership.”

Westcoast’s decision to expand the relationship comes down to one thing – confidence. Confidence in reliability, in service, and in the knowledge that their operation is supported by someone who understands it inside out.

The distributor also emphasised the importance of having a partner who proactively manages breakdowns, contracts, costs, and communication at pace – something Jay and the Mitsubishi team have consistently delivered.

For Milton Keynes, Jay worked directly with the site manager to design a fleet that fits the operation perfectly. The solution includes Reach trucks for fast, efficient pallet movement; High-level order pickers with advanced Birdseye safety systems; Low-level order pickers that double picking efficiency; Pedestrian counterbalance trucks with custom-built clamp attachments for white-goods handling; Standard counterbalance trucks for general warehouse support.

“We didn’t just replace like-for-like,” Jay explains. “We took measurements, assessed the challenges, looked at different controllers and safety systems, and built a fleet that is 100% suited to how they operate. For the first time, their trucks are genuinely customised for them.”

Westcoast head of operations, Simon Ralph, adds: “Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks have proven to be more than just a supplier – they’re a genuine right hand in our operations. Jay’s willingness to stay close to our sites, continually offer new ideas, and create bespoke solutions has been invaluable as we’ve expanded. The reliability, communication and proactive support give us the confidence to focus on serving our customers.”

As Westcoast continues to roll out Mitsubishi fleets across the UK, the relationship stands as proof of what can be achieved when a supplier invests real time, care, and understanding into a customer’s business.

“We’re not interested in selling trucks and walking away,” adds Jay. “We’re here to grow with Westcoast, support them, and be part of their success every step of the way.”
