THE NEWS follows a Scoping Opinion which says the scheme will require an Environmental Impact Assessment, and successful community consultation carried out at the end of last year.
Known as Indurent Park Solihull, the scheme, on a 130-acre site, is located close to Junction 4 of the M42 motorway opposite Blythe Valley Park.
Consultation documents suggest Indurent is planning a 980,000 ft2 scheme with units ranging from 71,000 to 372,000 ft2 with the potential for build-to-suit of up to 600,000 ft2. All buildings will aim to achieve BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A+ rating.
If approved the consultation documents indicated that the scheme could provide up to 185 construction jobs as well as a further 1,770 jobs once fully operational with an estimated £56.5 million GVA contribution to the local economy as well as £3.4m in business rates revenue.
Proposed woodland planting, green corridors and biodiversity areas will sit alongside the retention and enhancement of existing trees and hedgerows. Sustainable drainage features will add ecological value while managing surface water and supporting biodiversity net gain.
The West Midlands Strategic Employment Sites Study (WMSESS) has identified a shortage of suitable large-scale sites in the region.
