Online retailer Ocado is set to open a mini spoke customer fulfilment centre in Gateshead in the Northeast

IT IS currently recruiting drivers for its 13th UK fulfilment hub on St Omers Road in Dunston where it has taken an open storage site of some 3.46 acres on a flexible lease to ‘test the waters’ before seeking a more permanent option.
The site has secured planning for temporary modular buildings for storage and distribution for a period of three years. It will operate the site to deliver to the surrounding area.
It expects to generate some 95 full time equivalent jobs.
HTA advised the lease of the open storage site.
