Safety for charging infrastructure

Posted on Friday 11 September 2026

Public charging infrastructure requires reliable protection against transient overvoltages.

Public charging infrastructure requires reliable protection against transient overvoltages.

According to IEC 60364-7-722 / DIN VDE 0100-722, charging points must be protected directly within the final circuit.

The podis surge protection module is part of a coordinated protection approach for EV charging infrastructure.

With integrated and pre-wired SPDs, protection is implemented directly at the connection to the flat cable – exactly where it is required.

Two versions available – depending on the application:

Basic version: integrated SPD Type 2.
Extended version – coming soon: integrated SPD Type 2 + 3, LED status indication and replaceable modules[FN1.1].

Your benefits:
– No additional separate surge protection box required
– Time savings during installation and retrofitting
– Cost savings thanks to fewer components
– Minimal space requirements
– IP65 protection rating, lockable and robust
