Beauty and luxury brands rely on logistics to protect value, says FM Logistic
Logistics now directly shapes customer experience, product authenticity and compliance for beauty and luxury brands, according to a new white paper from FM Logistic, as viral social media demand and a €20bn grey market put pressure on supply chains.

IN THE white paper, “Orchestrating Prestige: How the supply chain shapes the value of beauty and luxury brands”, FM Logistic says a single TikTok video can exhaust six months of stock in under a week. The grey market is estimated at €20bn, or 8% of the luxury market.
The changes are reaching the warehouse floor. Order preparation now includes bottle engraving, custom gift box assembly and hand packaging for unboxing, while reverse logistics flows such as repair, reconditioning, in-store refilling and secure end-of-series management are growing.
The white paper identifies five shifts. Packaging has become a brand touchpoint, with neat packaging prompting 41% of customers to repurchase and 42% to post about it on social media. Brands must trace every unit, using serialisation, invisible watermarks, blockchain and Digital Product Passports to detect leaks and counterfeits.
Supply chains also need the agility to cope with volatile demand, using AI forecasting and urban micro-hubs to reallocate stock without overstocking. The ban on destroying unsold goods, led by France’s AGEC law and extended across Europe for 2026, is creating new circular flows. Technology such as AI, digital twins and robotics can cut execution times by up to 70%, FM Logistic says.
Yannick Buisson, chief customer experience officer at FM Logistic, said: “Traditional 3PL models, built to manage basic volumes in silos, are now obsolete in luxury and beauty. Today, the supply chain directly delivers on the brand promise.”
He added that, with strict health requirements under GDP standards and the rise of digital passports, “logistics no longer just manages inventory; it protects brand authenticity and secures brand equity from end to end”.
