DPD’s new Newton Aycliffe hub fitted out
DPD’s new distribution centre at Forrest Park, Newton Aycliffe, has been equipped with 32 insulated sectional doors and 11 complete loading bay solutions by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.

THE FACILITY, developed by Barberry, built by Caddick Construction and designed by AJA Architects, will increase DPD’s parcel handling capacity across the North East.
ASSA ABLOY supplied and installed 32 OH1042P insulated sectional overhead doors with a vertical lift track arrangement that maximises internal space. Of these, 25 are level access doors measuring 6,160mm wide, while seven have centrally mounted pass doors with low-profile 30mm thresholds, panic bars and integrated safety switches. Wind reinforcement trusses add structural stability.
The 11 loading bays each combine an OH1042P dock door with two rows of vision panels and a DL6220T telescopic dock leveller, which has a 6-tonne capacity and a 500mm telescopic lip to suit different trailer configurations. The levellers, finished in RAL 5010 blue, are complemented by dock shelters, buffers and wheel guides.
ASSA ABLOY says the package is designed to speed up vehicle turnaround, protect goods in transit and improve safety for warehouse staff and drivers, while supporting the building’s energy efficiency objectives.
