S&W Wholesale fits out Newry distribution centre

Posted on Wednesday 4 November 2026

S&W Wholesale has appointed Elevate Storage Solutions to install pallet racking at its new 180,000 sq ft regional distribution centre in Newry, as the wholesaler prepares for its next phase of growth across the island of Ireland.

THE CONTRACT, worth approximately £800,000, will see Mallusk-based Elevate install around 17,000 pallet locations using more than 400 tonnes of racking at the site on Chancellors Road. An eight-strong team will carry out the installation over roughly ten weeks.

The project is the first major Northern Ireland installation of Whittan’s new SKMX pallet racking system. Elevate, which recently became Whittan’s first approved partner in Northern Ireland, has been involved in the design since 2021 and won the installation contract through a competitive tender.

Located close to the border and the A1/M1 route between Belfast and Dublin, the warehouse will act as a strategic gateway for S&W’s operations across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Anthony McVeigh, CEO at S&W Wholesale, said: “The warehouse and storage infrastructure are fundamental to how the facility will operate, so it has been important to work with partners who understand both the scale of the project and what we need from the building over the longer term.

“The new racking system will help us make effective use of the available space and create the capacity and flexibility needed for the next phase of the business.”

Work is due to be completed this month, with the distribution centre expected to become operational in early 2027.

Tomorrow’s Warehouse to launch in Dublin

The successful Tomorrow’s Warehouse event, established for five years in Coventry and Manchester, will launch in Dublin in 2027.

The event takes place on February 25 at Dixon Transport, just north of Dublin by the airport.

Tomorrow’s Warehouse Dublin will offer the usual networking and learning opportunities to warehousing and logistics professionals in Ireland, as well as an exciting tour of Dixon’s newly expanded and highly automated warehouse, which is not to be missed.

Tomorrow’s Warehouse is delighted to announce that Vineta Bajaj, group chief financial officer at Holland & Barrett, will make the keynote address at the inaugural event.
