Temporary factory

Temporary structures specialist, Neptunus, has provided Volvo Trucks with additional workspace at its manufacturing plant in Oostakker near Ghent, Belgium.

To assist in the production of heavy truck cabs, Volvo Trucks required extra factory space at the site and entrusted Neptunus to design and install a semi-permanent, re-locatable solution.

In less than two weeks, Neptunus constructed three Evolution III structures sized 25 x 30m, 25 x 40m and 45 x 40m, with an 8m high workspace. A hydraulic system was used to quickly and safely raise the aluminium space frame roof, which was then fitted with insulated rigid roof panels.

Neptunus also provided a reinforced floor that could accommodate pallet trucks weighing up to 2500kg as well as provide a stable and level work surface equivalent to that of a permanent building.
