Lifetime costs key as Briggs secures £1m deal
A focus on lifetime cost reduction, coupled with fleet management, has secured Briggs Equipment a £1 million contract to supply 22 new Yale forklifts and extend their existing contract on 11 used machines to a global construction products company.
RMD Kwikform will take delivery of the Yale GDP 3 tonne VX machines for use across five of its UK sites operating both inside and outside of its warehouses.
RMD Kwikform UK MD Mike Follett says: “We believe the eco-engine Yale forklifts provide us with the best value in terms of lifetime costs and makes major inroads towards achieving our sustainability targets. Additionally, the Speedshield devices fitted to these machines will enable them to be automatically turned off when not in use saving even more fuel which in turn further reduces our carbon footprint. This proves that going green doesn’t cost the earth or even money; but can save both.”
Having already established a longstanding and mutually rewarding relationship with RMD Kwikform, Briggs Equipment conducted a thorough site survey and supplied a machine from its demo fleet. Feedback on the 3 tonne Yale truck was then utilised when specifying the new fleet.
“RMD Kwikform’s operation is complex because of the many different types of materials distributed, including formwork, falsework and shoring products,” explained Dan Carley, key account manager for Briggs Equipment.
“We were faced with the challenge of supplying an optimum number of trucks to meet RMD’s materials handling requirements at the right price.”
Bespoke attachments
Briggs Equipment provided a solution that included machines with bespoke forklift attachments to handle multiple types of loads, LED lights to last the life of the agreement, heavy duty transmission to reduce tyre ware and finger tip controls for ease of operation, reducing operator fatigue.
As part of the tailored service level agreement, Briggs Equipment is also providing full service and preventative maintenance. The agreement includes replacement tyres and forks to allow clear budgeting costs. Bespoke attachments are also being kept spare which was a competitive advantage during the tender process.
Speedshield also helps reduce accidental damage by enforcing pre-shift checks and monitoring driver behaviour.
