Contractor picked for Birmingham scheme

GMI Construction Group has been picked to build a 400,000 ft2 urban warehousing scheme in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

TRISTAN CAPITAL Partners and Canmoor, in partnership with regeneration specialist St Francis Group, awarded the contract to build the £32.9 million Urban 8 Logistics Park last week.

The scheme on the will feature eight energy efficient units ranging from 25,000 ft2 to 70,000 ft2 on the former Pilkington Automotive and GKN Aerospace sites. The scheme will be built to secure a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating and features a variety of sustainable measures including LED lighting, PV power generation, electric vehicle charging and energy saving infrastructure.

Power requirements are also accounted for, with a site-wide 5MVA, suitable for power-hungry operations.

St Francis Group will act as development manager. Joint agents are DTRE and JLL.
