New Kent DC for Tesco

TESCO IS believed to have signed for a new frozen and chilled distribution centre at Panattoni Park Aylesford in Kent.

The grocery retailer is believed to have signed the deal last year for a 621,138 ft2 facility that will provide 103,795 ft2 frozen capacity and a further 342,130 ft2 chilled capacity with the remainder providing ambient space on a plot known as Unit 2 Newsprint Avenue at developer Panattoni’s 90-acre Aylesford scheme.
Detailed planning was submitted and approved at the end of last year. The cross dock facility on a 36.59 acre plot will have 14.5m eaves to haunch and have 120 dock and 8 level access doors - of those 18 will be specialist freezer dock levellers.
The property will be built to target BREEAM Very Good and an EPC A rating. Just over 10% of the energy need for the facility will be provide via renewables which will include a PV array and air source heat pumps for the office space which totals 26,640 ft2.
