Tech can help attract talent... but only so far
02 June 2023
Ahead of his presentation at next week’s Tomorrow’s Warehouse Event, Gary Twynholm, Co-founder & Director, Link Logistics Services, highlights how tech can be used to attract talent into the logistics industry.
“THE IMMEDIATE thing we can see is that technology such as AMRs can help solve the labour crisis by taking on low skilled tasks. But what that doesn't instantly do is solve our larger problem, which is getting high-level skills into our industry,” he explains.
“When asked, less than 10% of people say they'll work in logistics. We don't promote it well enough, although there's several initiatives working on that.
“That's the real labour crisis, finding the management of the future. Roles in the industry are changing to become more tech-focused. We want data engineers, for example, but so does agriculture, sport sciences and many other industries.”
Listen to Gary next week at the show.
