Combilift: material handling products designed with a safety-first approach
Ahead of National Forklift Safety Day on 9 June, Combilift is highlighting how its wide range of products improves material-handling safety without compromising storage capacity or operational efficiency.

SAFETY IS at the core of Combilift’s design philosophy. Across its product portfolio, the company focuses on developing equipment that improves productivity and maximises space utilisation while reducing the potential for accidents, product damage, and operator injury.

As warehouse safety continues to rise on the industry agenda, more businesses are prioritising material handling solutions that support safer, more efficient operations without compromising throughput or storage capacity.
In response, Combilift is demonstrating how smarter equipment design can help companies create safer working environments while optimising workflow, increasing throughput, and unlocking additional storage capacity within existing facilities.
Multidirectional Forklifts for Handling Long Loads
Handling long and bulky materials such as timber panels or steel beams presents unique challenges. Combilift’s multidirectional forklift range, the C-Series and Combi-CB, enables operators to transport these loads efficiently in confined spaces, both indoors and outdoors.
The C-Series and CB operate like conventional forklifts, moving forwards and backwards, but with the ability to change the direction of the wheels and travel sideways at the flick of a switch.

This multidirectional capability allows sideways navigation, eliminating the need for elevated loads when manoeuvring around machinery, obstacles, or parked vehicles in restricted areas. By improving manoeuvrability in confined spaces, it helps reduce the risk of damage to products, facilities, and equipment while creating a safer operating environment. The result is a more efficient and safer material handling process that improves turnaround times and overall operational performance.
Additionally, it allows for more efficient and cost-effective use of available space, one of a company’s most valuable assets.
Pedestrian Range: Innovative Tiller Arm
In many warehousing applications, pedestrian-operated trucks can support safer working conditions by operating at lower speeds and keeping operators closer to both the load and the surrounding environment, helping them maintain greater awareness and react more quickly to changing conditions.
Combilift’s purpose-built electric pedestrian range is specifically designed for narrow aisles and space-restricted operations, enabling businesses to enhance productivity while maximising storage density safely.

A key safety innovation within the Combilift pedestrian range is its patented multi-position tiller arm. At the touch of a button, the arm rotates left or right while the rear wheel pivots parallel to the chassis. That movement repositions the operator from behind the truck to the side of it, keeping them out of the crush zone and providing a clear, direct line of sight over both the load and the aisle.
In addition to the safety benefits, the multi-position tiller arm enables aisle widths to be reduced to as little as 2.1 metres without compromising manoeuvrability. Operators can place loads more precisely, helping to reduce product damage and create a safer working environment.
