Crown provides lifetime guarantee on side restraints

Crown is now offering a lifetime guarantee on the folding quick-exit side restraints on its tiller-guided forklift trucks.

This guarantee, which covers spare parts and labour for repair or replacement of side restraints and mounting clips for the original owner, makes damage billing for these parts a thing of the past. The guarantee is immediately valid for all Crown trucks with side restraints, namely the WT Series platform pallet trucks, the ET Series platform stackers and the DT Series double stackers.

Marius Freitag, head of logistics at Stürmer Maschinen explains: “In our logistics centre, we are using the Crown DT Series double stacker and the platform stackers of the ET series. The durable construction of Crown’s stackers was an important reason for this decision and the robust side restraints are a good example of this. The fact that Crown now offers a lifelong guarantee on them is not only a powerful sales argument that benefits us, it is also evidence of the justified trust in their own quality.”

Forklift trucks with folding platforms are exposed to harsh operating conditions during ramp operation, transport or storage and must withstand frequent impacts. The folding side restraints are often damaged if they are made of light-weight tubes or if the manufacturer uses plastic mounting clips. In contrast, Crown’s patented quick-exit side restraints are made from 50mm thick, heavy-walled steel tube featuring a solid mounting system with strong metal C-clamps. Damage to this type of construction is extremely rare. Less stable constructions bend or break comparatively easily and must be repaired or replaced. Depending on the damage, this can incur costs of well over 500 euros. The lifetime guarantee on Crown’s quick-exit side restraints therefore represents a real cost saving since repair or replacement costs are avoided.

“Experience shows that our side restraints are among the most robust on the market and customers have long benefited from this robust construction. We have such faith in their stability and durability that we now offer a guarantee on them for the entire life of the vehicle,” says Christian Rotter, marketing product manager at Crown.

DS 3040

Crown has launched a new compact and agile double stacker, the DS 3040. Manoeuvrable yet powerful, the new forklift complements Crown’s popular DT Series of double stackers. With a load capacity of up to two tonnes and lift heights of up to 2300 millimetres, the new pedestrian stacker is primarily designed for use in confined retail or warehouse environments. Its small turning radius, compact size and high load capacity make it highly suitable for transporting and handling pallets at speed. It can carry up to one tonne on the wheeled load arms and one tonne on the forks in double-stacker mode.

“Crown stands for quality and robustness. The new DS 3040 has easily proven itself over a long period of time during testing at one of our major retail customers before bringing it into production and introducing it to the market. According to the customer, the tighter the space, the better the DS could be handled,” explains Christian Rotter.

The forklift combines the performance characteristics of a stacker with the flexibility of a pallet truck. It is developed and produced by Crown in Germany and is a typical example of Crown’s robust and reliable design. Durable steel covers protect internal components. With its nested I-beam design, the exceptionally stable mast can easily handle heavy loads. This gives the DS 3040 outstanding stability and makes it the ideal solution for medium-heavy applications, such as pallet transport, shelf replenishment and unloading lorries.

The compact design with a head length of just 772 millimetres and the low-mounted Crown X10 Handle make the new double stacker exceptionally agile. Its proportional lift/lower function enables operators to position pallets precisely and with optional mast lift switches on both sides of the mast, the forks can be lifted to an ergonomic working height of 850 mm without returning to the control handle. Thanks to the unobstructed view through the mast, low-profile drive unit and fork-tip indicators, operators benefit from excellent visibility. Like all Crown pallet trucks and stackers, the new DS 3040 is also available with lithium-ion power.
