New three-wheeled electric forklifts

Logistics, intra-company transport and stowing applications with limited space rely on compact electric forklifts with rear-wheel drive. Hyundai Heavy Industries presents a new product that will influence this very demanding market segment.

The Series 10/13/15BTR-9 with rear-drive and 24 V AC-Power for both lifting and travelling features lateral battery exchange as standard on all new electric CB-trucks.

Michel de Weert, European sales manager forklift and warehouse-equipment says: “These new premium lift trucks with powerful motors and extended battery capacity ranging from 625 to 1,000 Ah are the result of a long development process supported by key customers throughout Europe.

“We will provide these only 990mm wide BTRs through our extensive dealer network – Hyundai has a keen eye on the market and electric powered logistic equipment becomes more popular. We are going to supply a new series with a perfect balance of dimensions, power density, performance and ergonomics.”

Hyundai’s BTR´s range from 1,000, 1,300 and 1,500kg at 500mm load centre. Depending on the capacity the wheelbase differs from 1,065 to 1,220mm. All lift trucks are only 990mm wide and weight, equipped with standard mast, about 2,390 to 2,850kg. Duplex- and triplex-full visibility masts and lifting heights up to 6,035mm extend the usage to many logistic and warehouse tasks.

The company adds: “The new masts offer extreme residual capacities. The triplex mast offers at full lifting height of 4,500mm a considerable residual capacity of 725kg. For high performance powerful AC-motors and pump are used. We have installed a 9kW lifting motor and a 4.3-kW drive motor.”

Zapi controller and Prestolite electro motors make up the heart of the drive train. Wet, maintenance-free disc brakes on the front axle are standard. Curve control (speed reduction depending on the steering angle) will be integrated in every machine. Four levers are standard – new mini-tips are available as an option.

Fast travelling of up to 13 km/h makes these lift trucks ideal for longer routes, for example, when being used in cross-docking operations in logistics centres. Driving and lifting parameters can be adjusted according to requirements. The driver selects from three operating modes: Light, Intermediate, Advanced, impacting speed and energy consumption.
