Power company deploys high speed doors
Electricity supplier Northern Powergrid explored the possibility of using high speed doors on its external openings as an extra barrier against people entering the buildings and to speed up the process of transporting goods in and out.
A tender produced three quotes from well known companies who supply high quality products, Klimate was chosen based on price and added value offered. Speaking to James Davison; store & warehouse manager for Northern Powergrid it seems that it was the right choice.
“We had to get three separate quotes from the outset but we are so happy with both the product and the service we receive from BID and the Klimate Doors that they will be our first choice for any future installations. I have personally found the whole process from initial quote to final commissioning very easy and straight forward.”
The doors are currently operated by induction loops which have been cut into the ground for speed of access and to prevent people from opening the doors when on foot. However, the option is there to change the method of actuation to fobs mounted on forklifts for added security should the requirement occur.
Over the coming years there are plans for further expansion with a possible two new sites being added to the network. These new sites will also have the need for high speed doors which of course BID would be happy to assist with.
Having recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary BID Group is continuing to grow at a steady rate and supply its high speed doors throughout the country.
Northern Powergrid supplies electricity to around 8 million people in the northeast of England and operates from numerous sites in the area. The latest installation took place at one of their newer units which is used for the storage and distribution of parts to help keep the network operational.
