Blurred lines as electric forklifts get tougher and diesel models burn cleaner
An interesting trend in recent years has been the emergence of electric powered counterbalance forklifts that major manufacturers are confident to market as capable of operating outside as well as in the warehouse.
This has been made possible by developments allowing forklifts to work longer on a single charge, as well as chassis improvements that keep the worst of the weather away from sensitive electrical parts.
The maxim used to be that electric forklifts were appropriate for the warehouse, diesel trucks for outside and LPG forklifts for both.
Maybe we are seeing the lines blurring in terms of where a forklift can operate?
Can electric models compete with diesels on all but the most demanding outside applications?
And, with new diesel models burning cleaner than before, does this mean diesel models can be used indoors as well as out? If so, what levels of use are appropriate?
