Online retailer to teleport goods – but is it for deliveries or to wind up Amazon?

If you were impressed by Amazon’s plan to use drones for deliveries, wait until you see this – French online flash sales specialist vente-privee.com has revealed plans to develop teleportation technology to beam goods to people’s doorsteps seconds after they click to buy online.

The company’s supremo Jacques-Antoine Granjon made the tongue-in-cheek video – click here to see – in response to Amazon’s Prime Air plans.

In it, Granjon outlines how the company has been “working for years in secret with a Swiss laboratory” to develop technology that will be available “some time towards the end of the century”.

It is a wry commentary on Amazon’s announcement and shows that while there are experimental moves into drone deliveries, we are very much stuck with trucks for the foreseeable future.
