Reach truck provides new option for fleet operators

The reach truck is a difficult piece of kit to get right, says HSS Editor Simon Duddy. Perhaps this is why there are relatively few realistic options for reach truck fleet operators in the UK who need machines for a busy distribution environment.

The ops director at such a facility rightly demands a top performing product and a strong service engineering base to keep the fleet in tip top shape.

Relatively few manufacturers fit the bill, but Yale argues it has added itself to that list in earnest with its recently unveiled MR series of reach trucks. The new range brings a whole raft of performance improvements from the ability to lift 1.0 tonnes to 12.5 metres, to a laser positioning system and touchscreen in-cab display. Furthermore, Yale has vowed to price the truck range aggressively.

Add to this the significant service clout brought by Yale’s major UK distributor Briggs Equipment and it is likely the package will turn a few heads.

This is one to watch.
