Resists powerful impact
A dramatic impact test on the Fortress Interlocks amGardpro interlock fitted to a Troax St30 mesh door has been captured on video.
Your questions answered
What is ISO/TS 19837:2018 – Safety of Machinery – Trapped Key Interlocking Devices?
Slimline switches
Fortress Interlocks has brought out two new slimline modules for its amGardpro range of interlock safety gate switches: a slimline solenoid switch body and a slimline option pod body.
Fitting safety switches to machine guarding
Configuring a mounting plate for an interlock is easy with Fortress Interlock’s new Eazi-fit mounting system, which allows any amGardpro interlock safety switch to be easily fitted to machine guarding.
Industry 4.0 requires intelligent interlocks
As we race towards 50 billion devices connected to the internet by 2020, Industry 4.0 presents a huge challenge to manufacturers.
New MD at Fortress Interlocks
Fortress Interlocks has appointed Jo Smith as its new managing director. This appointment is a quick promotion for Jo, who only joined Fortress as finance director in November 2015.
Safety nomination
Fortress Interlocks’ proNET safety and communications module has been nominated for the Tomorrow’s Health and Safety Awards 2017.
Prevent inadvertent machinery startup
To prevent the inadvertent startup of dangerous machinery, Fortress Interlocks has developed an extracted key adaptor for use with its robust amGardpro, amGardS40 (IP69K) and mGard interlock ranges.
Improved connections
Industrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks has added industrial Ethernet communications to its amGardpro range of safety interlocks.
Certification achieved
Industrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks has achieved TÜV SÜD European, Canadian and U.S. approval for its tGard range of interlock switches and control devices.
For high purity applications
Industrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks is unveiling its amGardS40 stainless steel interlock switches for high purity applications at this year’s Automatica trade fair in Munich.
Stainless steel interlock switches
New from Fortress Interlocks is a range of rugged stainless steel interlock switches for high purity applications such as food, beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical processing.
Interlocks get networked
Industrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks is integrating AS-interface (AS-i) and PROFIsafe (PROFIbus Safety or PROFInet Safety) connectivity into its tGard and amGardpro interlocks. The company is also developing non-contact switches and output signal switching devices which can be incorporated into its tGard and amGardpro units.
Industrial Ethernet added
Fortress Interlocks has added industrial Ethernet communications to its amGardpro range of safety interlocks. The new proNET communications module, which uses the PROFINET protocol and its extension PROFIsafe, integrates easily into the amGardpro range.
Impact test
During dramatic impact test on the Fortress Interlocks amGardpro interlock fitted to a Troax St30 mesh door, during which the mesh door and interlock were subjected to a powerful impact of 1600 joule, the door was slightly deformed by the impact but no parts came loose and it was held firmly in place by the interlock. The interlock was also fully functional after the test.
Perimeter guarding
Fortress Interlocks and Troax have combined forces to create a new perimeter guarding system to protect workers from dangerous machinery. The system utilises a unique new bracket for fitting Fortress interlocks to Troax perimeter guarding panels, enabling the safeguarding of virtually any machinery installation.
Customisable access control
tGard from Fortress Interlocks offers a new approach to controlling access to hazardous machinery and equipment.
Key to safety
The revised EN ISO 14119 defines Escape Release as the ‘possibility to release manually without aids the guard locking from inside the safeguarded area to leave the area’, explains Rob Lewis, MD at Fortress Interlocks.
