A PLANNING CONSULTATION has just been launched by project management consultancy PMK Consult for the scheme which would include a 100,000 ft2 plus regional hub for last-stage parcel deliveries. The facility will also include a separate single storey van storage facility, with a capacity of 680 operational van storage spaces, at present a feature typically used by Amazon for its last mile delivery hubs. There is no indication at present as to whom the ultimate end-user of the warehouse will be.
The property will be in operation 24/7 and is set to provide some 180 full time jobs, as well as providing £155,000 a year in business rates according to the consultation website.
A spokesperson for PMK Consult, who is bringing forward the proposals, said “This proposal represents a significant investment in Cornwall’s future. Cornwall Council has identified logistics as a crucial sector to enable the county’s economic growth, and our proposals respond to this directly. A logistics warehouse at Chiverton Cross will create jobs, boost local supply chains and support the county’s growing logistics and e-commerce sectors.
The consultation website pointed out that the Post-Covid growth in online retail has created a strong, ongoing demand for modern logistics facilities and that Logistics is recognised as a foundational sector in Cornwall’s Good Growth Plan.
It said that the £50 million plus development would support around 795 jobs during the build providing some £12 million in wages for local people and add around £70 million to Cornwall’s GVA
Developers stated that the location was selected following a detailed analysis and is considered the best option regarding accessibility and minimal impact on heritage, ecology, and landscape designations.
The consultation is taking place throughout November with a submission set to go before Cornwall Council on 4th December 2025.
