AMAZON IS thought to occupy and operate some 600 US Fulfilment centres, delivery station and last mile facilities in the country and is looking to charm potential partners with promises of long leases on the properties in the region of 15 – 25 years. It is also willing to directly fund sites itself.
While in the UK Amazon has not expressly announced expansion plans, the ecommerce giant is reported to be increasingly active with a number of delivery station requirements nationwide as well as contracts with 3PLs needing to be filled. It has secured a 1 million ft2 build-to-suit with Tritax at Kettering and has at least one circa 800,000 ft2 requirement for the South West.
