THE NEW facility is being developed by Associated British Ports on a 23.27 acre plot off Compass Road. The plot had outline planning for up to 500,000 ft2 of employment space but the warehouse will only take up 27% coverage while the remaining area will be used for van parking. There are 646 van storage spaces.
The facility will run 24/7 and will be the newest delivery station in the region for Amazon. The company recently announced it would be closing its delivery station facility on Celtic Business Park, Newport, which has been operational since 2016. Workers from the Newport facility will transfer to Cardiff.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “We’re always evaluating our network to make sure it fits our business needs and to improve the experience for our employees and customers.
“All employees will continue with their roles at the new delivery station, a bus service will continue, and there will be no changes to the service we provide to our customers in this area.”
The new delivery station is expected to be operational in October.
