Arla Foods and 3PL XPO have confirmed that they are delivering a new facility at Prologis’ Prologis RFI DIRFT scheme as part of a major overhaul of Arla’s UK chilled distribution network.

By Liza Helps, Property Editor, Logistics Matters

THE NEW national central distribution centre, currently under construction, will handle all of Arla’s UK chilled palletised products, consolidating activity previously spread across multiple sites. The project is designed to improve supply chain resilience, reduce transport miles and increase efficiency across Arla’s chilled operations.

XPO Logistics is managing the delivery of the project and will operate the site once it becomes fully operational in late 2027.

Logistics Matters reported on the build-to-suit property last year but was unable to confirm for which contract XPO was creating the facility.

The automated, temperature-controlled distribution centre will bring together cheese, butter and yoghurt distribution under one roof. The building is being developed to BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ standards.
