Chinese 3PL takes second Midlands warehouse
Chinese 3PL Top Cloud Logistics has taken a second warehouse at developer investor Prologis’ 65-acre Prologis Park Midpoint scheme in Birmingham in the West Midlands.

THE COMPANY has taken the recently vacated 155,000 ft2 DC2 unit on a new 10-year lease. The deal comes just a year after Logistics Matters exclusively revealed that Top Cloud would be taking the 164,103 ft2 DC6 warehouse at Prologis Park Midpoint on a 15-year lease marking its debut to the UK.
Similarly to its original deal – which took just six weeks to complete – time was of the essence. In its press release Prologis said: “the transaction was completed in short timescales for both party’s mutual benefit.”
The property will be delivered as a ready-to-operate logistics operation, enabling Top Cloud to accelerate its expansion ambitions whilst minimising onsite operational downtime. A key element of the transaction was the retention of the building’s existing racking and mezzanine. Prologis Essentials facilitated the purchase and resale of these assets, ensuring they remained in situ and allowing Top Cloud to benefit from a faster, more cost-effective occupation programme.
Top Cloud’s Alex Zhang said: As our UK business continues to scale, securing additional capacity within Prologis Park Midpoint represents an important step in our long-term growth strategy. We are committed to building a stronger and larger warehouse and logistics platform in the UK, providing reliable, high-quality fulfilment and supply chain services to a growing customer base.
“The Prologis team understood both the speed and scale of our ambitions and worked closely with us to deliver a solution that supports our next phase of expansion. This agreement reflects the strength of our partnership with Prologis and gives us the confidence, flexibility and operational capacity to continue growing our presence and capabilities across the UK market.”
DC2 was previously leased to Europa Worldwide Logistics in 2011 on a 15 year lease. The property has 11m eaves and 38 dock levellers and LED lighting throughout.
