INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST Avjon has secured planning for the demolition and redevelopment of the site, which was acquired by the Government as an inland border site in 2021 to assist with the BREXIT transition.
The inland border site was closed in 2022. Avjon submitted plans for its redevelopment in April this year. The facility will consist 63,937 ft2 of warehouse space and 9,138 ft2 of Grade A office space with 25 trailer spaces.
Sortimo’s HQ is in Risley, Warrington, but such is the success/growth of the company that a satellite site is required, which is the subject of this proposal.
The planning documents note: “Sortimo does not carry out any manufacturing of products as such, but rather fits out, brands, modifies and wraps “blank” commercial vans (with shelves, signage and suchlike) to suit the end user’s requirements for its fleet.”
“While that is the mainstay of Sortimo’s business, much of the site will be dedicatedto the storage and distribution of both ‘blank’ commercial vans (as they are delivered to the site) and subsequently ‘fitted out’ vans, which will be stored temporarily on the hardstanding that is already in place, awaiting dispatch to customers.”
