Danish online grocer nemlig chooses Ocado technology
The two businesses are set to build an automated Customer Fulfilment Centre near Copenhagen.

THE SITE will be equipped with the latest Ocado technology, including the 600s bot, On-grid robotic pick and a fully automated freezer. Nemlig, which currently fulfils thousands of orders using manual picking, will continue to operate its existing webshop and manage last-mile delivery, with completed orders handed on to its third-party delivery partners.
The CFC will be fully integrated into those existing operations. For logistics managers, the structure of the deal is notable: it reflects the modular nature of the Ocado Smart Platform, where individual elements can be dropped into parts of a retailer’s established business rather than replacing the whole operation.
Nemlig recorded sales of DKK 3.3bn (c.£380m) in 2025/26, up from DKK 2.8bn (c.£320m) the previous year, and has established itself as one of the most price-competitive grocers in the Danish market. It expects to transfer existing order volumes into the CFC during 2028, generating a significant increase in profitability from go-live.
Stefan Plenge, founder and CEO of nemlig, said: “This partnership marks an important next step for nemlig and will significantly strengthen the efficiency and scalability of our business. It supports our ambition to solidify nemlig’s new position as one of Denmark’s cheapest grocery retailers, while continuing to deliver the convenience and service our customers expect.”
