Announcing the eleven winners of the UKWA Awards for Excellence 2025 at the Royal Lancaster London before an audience of around 400 guests, Rob Rinder highlighted the importance of recognising organisations across the sector that too often don’t ask for credit but simply get on with the job of keeping shelves stocked and communities connected.

“THANK YOU for the miracles, thanks for the madness, for keeping calm and scanning barcodes while the world loses its head, for being innovative in green technologies, for quietly modelling what’s possible when this nation and communities like this act alongside each other to build something of value,” he said.

A highlight was the presentation of the UKWA’s prestigious Chairman’s Award for outstanding contribution to warehousing, which went to David McCutcheon, founder of Bullet Express.

Describing David as one of the industry’s ‘big characters’, retiring UKWA Chair Mike Thomas said: “David is a true entrepreneur, whose passion and commitment has created a highly successful business, inspiring loyalty and affection among his workforce and colleagues. As a UKWA board member he has been a strong advocate for the sector and for the Association, both in his native Scotland and across the UK. David is a worthy winner and undoubtedly represents the very best of our industry.”

Commenting on the success of the event, UKWA CEO Clare Bottle said: “Yet again, our extraordinary Awards for Excellence has proved the highlight of our year. Rob Rinder entertained and genuinely touched our audience with his blend of wicked wit and authenticity, recognising our sector as a ‘cloak wrapped around the UK economy’.”
