DHL eCommerce UK has doubled its fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vehicles with the introduction of 30 new Volvo FM trucks.

THE NEW fleet will be distributed across key sites in Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham and Milton Keynes, and operate on routes throughout the UK. These trucks will replace diesel vehicles.

Each LNG truck has a range of up to 400 miles and emits up to 80% less GHG emissions compared to a traditional diesel truck when fueled with Bio-LNG.

DHL eCommerce UK is investing in additional refueling infrastructure, including a secondary Bio-LNG tank at its new hub in Coventry. The site will serve as a hub for DHL’s low-GHG-emissions operations. In parallel, the company is piloting a fully electric tractor unit.

DHL eCommerce UK CEO Stuart Hill, says: “We’re delighted to expand our fleet with lower GHG emission vehicles and take diesel trucks off the roads. As a business, we are committed to being at the forefront of sustainable logistics so we will continue to make the necessary investments to reduce our GHG emissions footprint as we work towards our sustainability targets.”
